Welcome

Welcome to Abbott School! We are excited by the opportunity to share with you the exemplary work students, staff and parents are engaged in across our school and community.  Abbott School  has a strong reputation for fostering students’ strengths, finding opportunities for students to be leaders in their school and community and creating an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere.  We have a committed, passionate and caring staff, a stimulating learning environment and a welcoming family atmosphere.

For the 2025 - 2026 school year, Abbott School is full in the Full day Kindergarten program and full in planned classes in Grades 2 and 5 in the regular program. A Kindergarten student who is a resident and lives in the school's attendance area may still register. We will only accept resident students in Grades 2 and 5 whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have newly moved into the school’s attendance area for the regular program. A resident student of Edmonton Public Schools has at least one parent or legal guardian living in Edmonton who is not Roman Catholic. Non-resident students can enrol in another Division school with space in planned classes.

If you are registering for Kindergarten or are new to Edmonton Public Schools, you must register online.

Principal's Message

Dear Abbott Families,

On behalf of myself and the entire staff, I am absolutely thrilled to welcome both our returning families and those joining us for the very first time. We are so excited to have you as part of the Abbott family, and we can’t wait to see the wonderful things we will accomplish together as we embark on this new school year.

At Abbott School, belonging is the foundation of everything we do. We believe that when students feel a strong sense of belonging—when they feel safe, seen, and valued for exactly who they are—they are confident, engaged, and ready to learn. We celebrate the unique stories and diverse backgrounds that every child brings to our school, as we see that diversity as our greatest strength.

Kindness is the heartbeat of our community. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where empathy and compassion guide our interactions. We also focus on teaching children to be safe, helping them understand what safety looks like on the playground, online, and in the community at large. When students feel safe and connected, they find the courage to take risks and grow.

Education is a shared journey between home, school, and community. We invite you to walk alongside us as partners, and we are always here to support your child’s educational journey. Thank you for trusting us with your children; we look forward to a wonderful year of connection, growth, and community.

Yours in learning,

Nicole Gusikoski

Principal
