Absentee Check Program
Abbott and R.J. Scott School operates an attendance check program to ensure the safety of your children. Parents are asked to notify the schools by phoning 780-477-7310 for Abbott students and 780-477-2897 for R.J. Scott students, if your child will not be attending or will be late to school. An answering system at both schools will be available to leave a message for your convenience. If your child is away and there has been no call confirming your child's absence, you will be telephoned by the school. It is important that we have a current phone number for each family member.

Attendance
Regular attendance is an important factor in the success at each grade level. In this regard, all students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared for class.

Students arriving at school late are required to receive a late slip from the office before being admitted to the classroom.

Students with a habitual attendance problem can be referred to the Alberta Attendance Board. If parents wish their child to leave the school early for medical or other reasons, please write this in their school agenda, write a note to the school or notify the school by phone. Children must sign out in the office before leaving.

Cold Weather Policy
Unless the temperatures are below -23C, all students are required to spend the fifteen minute recess periods outdoors. On occasions when the weather is too severe for students to go outside, an inside recess will occur.

Change of Address/Telephone Number
It is very important that the school files be kept up-to-date regarding changes of address, phone number, parent's place of work and work number in order that you may be contacted in the event of an accident or emergency. Please notify the school of any changes to this information as they occur.
